Aluminum Alloy Casting Properties

Aluminum alloy casting properties and chemical composition are closely related. Al-Si alloy is near the eutectic composition, its casting properties is best. On the contrary, Al-Cu alloy is far away from the eutectic composition. Its solidification temperature range is big. So it has bad casting properties.

Aluminum alloy is very easy to be aspirated and oxidation. So the gating system must ensure that the aluminum liquid flowing quickly and smoothly which could avoid stirring. Each kind of casting method is fit for aluminum alloy casting. You can choose sand casting method while the production is in less amount. Low pressure casting is only fit for water pressure casting which needs high dense. Pressure casting can apply to the small and complex one who with thin wall.

There are many kinds of aluminum alloy melting furnace. In general, people like to use coke crucible furnace and resistance crucible furnace. Besides induction furnace is also used in smelting work. The alloy structure is much more complex than the pure metal. Because the alloy is composed by two or more kinds elements. The interaction between elements can form a variety of different phase.
